Daily reading: Luke 5:1-15

Focus passage: When he finished speaking to the crowds, he said to Simon, “Row out farther into the deep water, and drop your nets for a catch.”  Simon replied, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and caught nothing.  But because you say so, I’ll drop the nets.”  So they dropped the nets and their catch was so huge that their nets were splitting. Luke 5:4-6

There is this abundance that is overwhelming: nets splitting, muscles straining, excitement brimming, hurried shouts for extra help from the other boat, fish absolutely everywhere, boats weighed down, almost sinking.

Can you imagine?

In this moment, Simon experiences an epiphany.

In this moment, he does something he has never done before, because Jesus has, pardon the pun, casts a vision for him to follow, he experiences abundance.  Despite how ludicrous it is, he followed and was amazed.

Prayer:  Abundant God, help me to trust in your guidance so that I can be filled with your Holy Spirit.  Amen.
