Daily reading: Joel 2:12-13, 28-29
Sunday December 4, 2016
This is the second week of Advent and today we light the candle of peace. Last week we lit the candle of hope and today it is joined with peace. When we combine the two, we live more fully into longing. Our dreams and visions for hope now are joined with a desire for peace.
Advent is a season of preparation and active waiting. There is something quite striking about Peace Sunday. The longing that we feel invites us into a space of repentance and reconciliation.
Prayer: God, help me to fully return to you. I open myself to join in your dream for shalom peace within myself and for my community and world. Amen.
