Daily reading: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Focus passage: So then, from this point on we won’t recognize people by human standards.  Even though we used to know Christ by human standards, that isn’t how we know him now.  So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation.  The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!  2 Corinthians 5:16-17
There is plenty that needs to be mended in our world.  All around us we find fractured relationships, dysfunctional families, broken communities, alienated individuals and lost relationships.
We have walked away from respectful conversations, where we no longer are willing to hear the other side of the story.  And at times it escalates into physical violence that only creates a larger tear in our fragile web of community.
We don’t have to go far to find relationships that need restoration and reconciliation.  Be in prayer today for the places in your life and in your community that need restoration and reconciliation.

Prayer: God we know that it is only through you that the world can be reconciled to you and to one another.  It seems impossible with news of violence beyond imagining, in words that break and split us apart, help us to find a way forward through your grace and love.  Help us to be agents of your peace.  Lead us toward reconciliation.  Through you all things are possible.  Amen.
