What Now?

Daily reading: Acts 1:1-14
Sunday April 3, 2016

Focus passage: As a result, those who had gathered together asked Jesus, “Lord, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now?”  Acts 1:6

The disciples find themselves in this state of “what now” after the resurrection of Jesus.  We could probably even go back through the gospel and hear this same question over and over again, Jesus heals someone who was an outcast and we wonder “what now?”  Jesus calms a storm and we wonder “what now?”  Jesus eats with sinners and outcasts and we wonder “what now?”

The question is, now that Jesus is dead “what now?”  Will his message and ministry die as well?  How will the disciples respond to the reality of his resurrection?  How will we respond to the reality of the resurrection?  How does the news of resurrection shape and form our community and the ministry we do?

Prayer: God of the resurrected Christ, breathe new life into the dead spaces of my world.  Amen.
