Living into resurrection

Daily reading: Mark 16:1-8
Friday April 1, 2016

Focus passage: But he said to them, “Don’t be alarmed! You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.  He has been raised.  He isn’t here.  Look, here’s the place where they laid him. Go and tell his disciples, especially Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee.  You will see him there, just as he told you.” Mark 16:6-7

We are called to live into the resurrection, to believe that God is out in front of us leading us, out in front of all of the changes that are happening in our world.

But so often we do ministry from the vantage point of reacting to what is going on around us.  We see the changes happening around us, we peer into the metaphorical empty tombs of our lives and we are afraid.

We don’t believe in the promise that calls us into the future.
Just as Mark depicted Jesus on the move and going about using an abundance of the word “immediately” he is once again where we did not expect him to be.

He is on the move still.  Death has not stopped him.
Didn’t we know that it was so?

Prayer: God of the resurrection, I praise you today.  Breathe new life in me.  Amen.
