Daily reading: 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Friday April 22, 2016

Focus passage: On the contrary, we had the courage through God to speak God’s good news in spite of a lot of opposition, although we had already suffered and were publically insulted, as you know.  1 Thessalonians 2:2

It takes courage to speak life and hope in our communities.  Courage ultimately comes from God.  We can read about countless examples in the scripture of people overcoming huge obstacles, who had the courage to speak life into dead situations.

Take time to think about the places in your life, in your neighborhood or community that needs to hear a courageous message that challenges systems that devalue members of the community.  The gospel message will always prove to bring comfort and challenge, to turn our world upside down (or perhaps right side up)!

Prayer:  God help me to share my faith story with others.  Help me to find the words that will speak to others.  Amen.
