Participating

Daily reading: Mark 6:1-13
Wednesday February 3, 2016

Focus passage: He was unable to do any miracle there, except that he placed his hands on a few sick people and healed them. Mark 6:5

What Mark introduces us to in the passage of scripture for today is something quite remarkable.  He introduces us to the participatory nature of the gospel message.

We read that Jesus “was unable to do any miracle there, except that he placed his hands on a few sick people and healed them.  He was appalled by their disbelief.”

If we are to believe that God doesn’t need us, then we might be even more confused by our neighbors who believe that God does need us.  The question is can healing and restoration happen without our participation?

Prayer: God open me up to experience you in a new way today.  Amen.
