Focus passage: But the man was dismayed at this statement and went away saddened, because he had many possessions. Mark 10:22

We might be just as dismayed as the guy is who “was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.”

Eugene Peterson paraphrases it this way in The Message:
“The man’s face clouded over.  This was the last thing he expected to hear, and he walked off with a heavy heart.  He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and not about to let go.”

What do you hold tight to?  Might it be hindering you from fully following God?  There is always present this challenge to let go, it accompanies us through our entire life, in order to follow Christ we have to be willing to let go.

Prayer:  God help me to let go of the situations and possessions that keep me from fully embracing and loving you and my neighbor.  Amen.
