Journey with God

Daily reading: Matthew 2:1-11
Friday January 1, 2016

Focus passage: Because they were warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country by another route.  Matthew 2:12

Today is a day of beginnings.   Our culture looks toward assessing and setting new goals for the year every year on this day.  Have you considered making a spiritual goal for the New Year?

What type of journey are you ready to take with God?  We read that the Magi didn’t return home by the way they came, we never really do after we experience the presence of Christ.

How might God help you to live into this New Year in a new way that enhances your faithfulness?

Prayer: God of grace and peace, God of Word made flesh, we receive your arrival with joy, eagerness, and wonder.  As we ponder and pray our way through this Christmas season, we still sit in the mystery of your coming into our daily lives.  You come to redeem us from all that is incomplete, unworthy, and broken in ourselves and in our world.  Amen.
