God calls us all

Daily reading: Matthew 2:1-12
Thursday January 7, 2016

Focus passage: They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother.  Falling to their knees, they honored him.  Then they opened their treasure chests and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Matthew 2:11

What is so beautiful about these strange men, from a foreign place, with all of the intrigue and mystery that they are shrouded in is that their story reminds us that God calls us all.  Not just the insiders to follow, not just those of us who have been doing church our whole lives to follow, and not just one of us, but all of us, with our histories and complexities and layers, to follow.

Prayer: God of epiphanies and a-ha moments, open my eyes to your presence today.  Amen.
