Preparing the Way

Daily reading: Luke 1:5-13, 57-80

Focus passage: You, child will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way. You will tell his people how to be saved through the forgiveness of their sins.  Because of our God’s deep compassion, the dawn from heaven will break upon us, to give light to those who are sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide us on the path of peace. Luke 1:76-79

We hear in this moment Zechariah’s hope for his newborn son.
We echo these words at our baby dedications in worship.  We have dreams and hope for the children in our midst.

We share in the hope that even when we can only see a small ray of light that God will break into the darkness of our world.

We share in the hope that we along with the generations that we are raising up will serve God without fear and will follow in the path of peace.

We share in the preparation of making a way for others to know Christ, by living out the gospel message of forgiveness and unconditional love.

Prayer: Come Lord Jesus, be born anew in my life today.  Amen.
