Daily reading: Isaiah 5:1-7
Tuesday November 24, 2015

Focus passage: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.  He dug it, cleared away its stones, planted it with excellent vines, built a tower inside it, and dug out a wine vat in it. Isaiah 1:1b-2a

The parable draws us in with its beginning line “Let me sing for my loved one” and we immediately know this is about a deep relationship. We hear about how the loved one had fertile land and worked it to create an amazing vineyard.  He dug out and cleared away the stones, built a tower, and dug a wine vat.

The parable gives insight into God’s relationship with God’s people.  We hear of how God takes create effort and care in helping each person grow into a loving relationship with God and with one another.

Take time to think about the reality that God is working in your life.  God is ready and able to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit in your life, to bring forth love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Prayer:  God infuse me with your love so that my words and actions can be a reflection of your deep love for all of humanity.  Amen.
