Focus passage: We know that the whole creation is groaning together and suffering labor pains until now. Romans 8:22

We know that the conditions for the faithful followers of the Way of Jesus in the early years of the church were less than ideal.   We know that the groaning of creation happened long before Jesus walked the earth.  It happened when the Hebrew slaves cried out under the oppression of Pharaoh.  And it happens today, when we hear of untamed forest fires burning up communities and taking lives, we hear of it when we learn of violence in our streets, we hear it when we see refuges migrating in hopes of a safer home.

Paul reminds us that as stewards of God’s creation we have a responsibility to care for one another and for our earth.  In verse 19 we read “The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters.”

Where do you see need in your community?

Pray for God to guide you with a response to offer to that need.
Prayer:  God may I embrace the bounty that you have provided in my life so that it can be a generous gift to others.  Amen.
