Daily reading 1 Timothy 6:6-19
Sunday September 20, 2015

But people who are trying to get rich fall into temptation.  They are trapped by many stupid and harmful passions that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:9

What are you possessed by?

Another way to think about the question is to think about what drives you each day?

Do you have goals set in place?

I think it is safe to say that most of us do have goals.  Even if we find that we are in a rut, we still have dreams for a brighter tomorrow.

Do you have spiritual goals?  Do you hope to grow closer to God each day?  Do you offer your spiritual gifts in Christ’s service either with your congregation or with the wider community?

We are called as followers of Christ to put God first in our daily living.  We are to be possessed by God’s steadfast unconditional love, by God’s wide mercy, unbelievable forgiveness and amazing grace.

Prayer: God help me to embrace the bounty you have placed in my life today.  Amen.
