Through the Gate

Day 6 of Hike

Focus scripture: Go in through the narrow gate.  The gate that leads to destruction is broad and the road is wide, so many people enter through it.  But the gate that leads to life is narrow and the road difficult, so few people find it. Matthew 7:13-14

The road of faith is challenging.  While I believe we all search for meaning in our lives, and to know that we are not alone, not everyone is willing to do the hard work of developing a relationship with God; because it is challenging and rewarding.

Jesus tells us time and time again in the gospels, that when we follow him, we will face challenges and difficulties.

It takes times and discipline to be grounded in God’s presence.  But what we find as we commit to the journey is something the wide easy road cannot offer us and that is the fruit of the Spirit that is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

If you have time to take a walk today, as you walk meditate on the phrase “Guide me forward.”

If you can’t walk far, do it with slow intentional steps inside your house.  “Guide me forward.”

Take time to journal your insights and write a prayer.

Prayer:  God show me the way forward in faithfulness.  Amen.
