The fruit of the Spirit if Kindness

Daily reading: Galatians 5:22-24

Therefore, as God’s choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Colossians 3:12

Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to each other, in the same way God forgave you in Christ.  Ephesians 4:32

Have you noticed that the fruit of the spirit that Paul lists build upon one another?  In many ways it is difficult to speak about one without mentioning the supportive nature of the others.
This rings true with kindness.  Kindness is grounded in love, patience, joy and peace.  My son had a teacher last year that exuded kindness, in her speech and actions.  It even comes across in the way she walks.
Kindness begins with grounding ourselves in God’s presence so that our words build up rather than tear down.  Kindness happens in our actions that tell both friend and stranger that they matter to us simply because they are in our presence.

Is there an act of kindness God is calling you to do today?

Prayer:  God may your kindness wash over me today and grow within so that my words and actions are kind.  Amen.
