Daily reading: Matthew 6:24-34
June 23, 2015

Focus scripture: "Therefor, I say to you, don't worry about your life, what you'll eat or what you'll drink, or about your body, what you'll wear.  Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothes?" Matthew 6:25

There is much wisdom in Jesus’ message linking the topic of serving two masters followed by a conversation with anxiety.

We are not able to serve both God and wealth.  It will create a divided heart.  The core definition of anxiety is literally being of two minds.  When we are anxious we find it hard to focus on one task or issue for very long at a time.

Anxiety is also drawn out by our worries and our fears.  Did you know that in the Bible it says “do not be afraid” 365 times?  That is one message for each day of a calendar year.  Do not be afraid.

Do not be anxious.

Trust that God will lead you forward.  Serve God only.

Prayer:  God help me to be of a single mind, focused on your joyful presence in my life today.  Amen.
