Sabbath rest

Daily reading: Matthew 14:22-23
May 16, 2015

Focus scripture:  When he sent them away, he went up onto a mountain by himself to pray.  Evening came and he was alone.  Matthew 14:23

You have to make time for God.  Plain and simple.

Even when presented with great need, Jesus found time to be away from everyone so he could focus on his relationship with God.  This passage of scripture is sandwiched between the feeding of the 5,000 and Jesus walking on the water to distressed disciples who had been fighting a strong wind on the lake in their boat.
There will always be a pressing need.  There will always be something you want or need to get done.  So you have to make prayer and taking time away from your busyness a priority.

Make time for God.

Prayer:  God as I pause today may this time of devotion be longer than it was yesterday.  May the prayer time be longer than the few sentenced typed.  May I take time to be in your presence … Amen.
