Resurrection happens

Daily reading: Matthew 28:8-15
April 6, 2015

With great fear and excitement, they hurried away from the tomb and ran to tell his disciples.  Matthew 28:8

The disciples were no more prepared for the crucifixion and death of Jesus than they were for his resurrection.  When something new comes out of the ashes of our past, there exists both fear and excitement.

About a year ago I read an article about an area where rain forest had been cut and burned many years prior.  After close to 100 years the forest is coming back.  We see it in urban areas in abandoned lots or buildings where shoots of green emerge from the cracks in the concrete.

It happens when we move to a new city and begin again making friends and establishing new routines.

Resurrections happens.  We may not always be prepared for it, but it happens.

Prayer:  God in the places of my life where death has a strong grip over me, speak resurrection and hope.  Amen.
