Jesus replied, “The most important one
is Israel listen! Our God is the one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your being, with all your mind, and with all your
strength. The second is this, You will
love your neighbor as yourself. No other
commandment is greater than these.” Luke 12:29-30
What
does God require of us? To love God and to love neighbor.
This is the summation of all of God’s law and the
teaching from God’s prophets.
The gospel writer Luke expands our understanding of who
our neighbor is beyond those who actually live next to us, to be anyone we
encounter in our day.
As you go through the day look for ways that you can
love God by showing love, compassion, grace, mercy and forgiveness toward your
neighbor.
Prayer: God
help me in all that I say and do today show you and my neighbor love. Amen.
