Free from Sin

Scripture: John 8:31-42
March 25, 2015

They responded, “We are Abraham’s children; we’ve never been anyone’s slaves.  How can you say that we will be set free?” John 8:33

To sin means to miss the mark.  Other translations would say it is to turn from God.  We can become so entrenched in behaviors that harm ourselves and others that we don’t realize that we are enslaved to sin.  Our actions and words can breed anger, hatred or mistrust.

Jesus calls us to live lives free from sin.    That in naming and claiming our sins and then letting go of the behaviors that lead to them we will find true freedom.  This can be difficult because it causes us to take a good look at ourselves and to be willing to change.

Prayer:  God help me to turn to you in everything that I do.  May my focus be on serving you and my neighbor.  Amen.
