Seeing Christ

Scripture: Matthew 25:31-46
February 23, 2015

When I was in seminary I had the opportunity to work with a number of youth groups.  The programs I helped to lead were centered upon providing opportunities for a well rounded faith experience.  We took time to study scripture together, to play, to pray, to worship and to serve our neighbors.

One Valentine’s Day we went to visit the members of our congregation who resided in nursing homes.  We took a rose to each member and read them love poetry.  One of the ladies we visited was blind.  The kids poured into her room as we introduced ourselves.  She held the rose up to her nose and breathed in its sweet fragrance as our youth took turns reading poetry.  We concluded with a prayer and tears streamed down her face.  She thanked us, telling that she truly felt loved that day.

Where do you find the presence of Christ? God’s Kingdom exists where we reach out to those in need.

Prayer:  God may I respond to the places where there is deep need.  Amen.
