Spiritual Blindness

Spiritual Blindness by Pastor Leslie

Scripture: Luke 4:14-22

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me.  He has sent me to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to liberate the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18

I think all of us from time to time suffer from spiritual blindness.
We categorize one another based on the clothes we wear, the style of our hair cut, our mannerisms, what part of town we live in, the words we use, etc.

We are fast to make judgments.

Just go for a drive on a bad day and I bet you verbally make a comment about someone’s lack of driving skills.

It is part of our human nature to categorize and make judgments.  It is our way of making sense of our world.  But Jesus teaches us that our judgments hinder the coming of God’s Kingdom.

Our judgments create for us spiritual blindness where we are no longer able to see the presence of Christ in everyone we encounter.

Prayer: God open our eyes to really see the world as you would have us see it.  Amen.
