The Gift

The Gift.   By Cheryle Haguewood

Scripture John 3: 22-30

“To this John replied, ‘A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.’ ” John 3:27

During this time of advent we all are busy shopping, decorating, baking and preparing for Christmas.  But in all the hustle and bustle are we missing the true “gift” of Christmas?

We, in the Christian world, know we are awaiting the celebration of Jesus birth so many, many years ago.  We know the Joy of the “gift” that God sent to all of us when he sent Jesus to walk and live amongst us.  But, we are human and we can become “caught up” in the commercialized Christmas.   But God is always challenging us to do what he sent us to do.  And that my friends, is to pass the word that we are waiting to fulfill our purpose by passing the word that God gave his son, that ALL of us could receive the eternal “gift” of eternal life.

So as we all rush through this time of waiting, God is patiently waiting for us to stop and listen and remember that we receive, only, the gifts from heaven that are sent to us from heaven.

Prayer:  Gracious and loving God let me always remember how fortunate I am to have received the “gift” that you gave us all when your son, Jesus, was born and then died for each and every one of us.  Help me to better fulfill your wish that I pass the word to all about the great joy I know by having you in my life and how fulfilled and peaceful everyone can be by knowing you and accepting you into their life.  Amen
